And even if things aren’t moving along as fast as you’d like them to, one woman told me something that sticks with me every day: Trust the process. If you’re giving it your best effort, results will come.

I’m not saying there aren’t any overweight people who do a lot of exercise. But I can imagine lots of people fall prey to a similar kind of distorted thinking as I did: I used to consider even relatively normal things to be great sporting achievements.

Here are the routines that I usually do that you can try yourself, you will be surprised yourself and can prove yourself that simple things but can actually have a good impact on the body:

  1. Eat less

Eating less is the first step toward losing weight. If you eat less, you will have fewer calories to burn off. You may not even notice that you are eating less if you’re hungry. However, if you start feeling full after eating smaller portions, then you know you’ve eaten enough.

  1. Drink water

Drinking plenty of water helps keep your body well-hydrated. Dehydration makes you tired and cranky, so stay hydrated!

  1. Exercise regularly

Exercise helps you lose weight because it burns calories. Try walking, running, swimming, biking, dancing, hiking, playing sports, etc. Whatever activity you enjoy doing, do it often.

  1. Avoid sugary foods

Sugary foods make you gain weight because they cause your blood sugar levels to rise. When your blood sugar level rises, your brain tells you to eat something sweet. Instead of reaching for a candy bar, reach for some fresh fruit instead.

  1. Cut back on alcohol

Alcohol causes your liver to produce fat cells, so drinking alcohol actually increases your risk of gaining weight.

  1. Don’t skip meals

When you skip meals, your body doesn’t get the fuel it needs to function properly. Skipping meals also means you’ll end up eating more later on.

  1. Get moving

If you want to lose weight, move around more. Walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, dancing, and other activities help you burn calories and increase your heart rate.
