OK, what’s next? Is it possible to avoid a relapse after weight loss?

The Cabbage Soup Diet is recommended to be followed only for one week. This period of time is way too short to achieve significant fat loss. However, even if the expected results occur, the weight loss in that case is mainly water weight and muscle tissue loss.

When you limit your calorie intake to such low levels, the glycogen – energy reserves stored in your muscle and liver- is being used by your body to provide energy. As it binds water, the depletion of glycogen leads also to water weight loss.

The Cabbage Soup Diet doesn’t program your body to burn strictly excess fat. After you return to your normal way of eating, the water weight will probably come back right away. Please also keep in mind that, although the cabbage is rich in fiber and e.g. vitamin C and you are allowed to eat some vegetables and fruits during the dieting, this weight loss plan doesn’t supply your body with essential fats, protein, vitamins, and minerals. Should you take it into account as a long-term strategy for trimming the fat? Definitely no! For fitting into your party dress? Why not!
